1:1 Athlete Coaching

What is our goal?

The ideal goal for all performers is to maintain a state where recovery and stress are balanced - homeostasis.

First, we look at the actual sport training and find a realistic ideal. Some athletes may require building up and some may require backing down. Training is a mix of technical, intensity, endurance, and fun.
The next thing we do is adjust physical trainings. Getting to the ideal safely, maintaining performance without injury, and enhancing the mind-body connection is the priority.
These are the "stress" sides.

For recovery, we first like to assess mental training. Although it is called training, we focus on techniques that promote relaxation and cultivating a harmonious connection with oneself. This allows the athlete to work on things without the physical stress, and while promoting more learning. We also promote getting involved with actual physical recovery techniques. Finally, we love encouraging athletes to hang out with friends, go on trips, find hobbies, or do anything they can away from training to reset their minds and souls.

Athletics takes up a lot of time, but it doesn't have to take up all of it.

Update: Montana DID achieve her goal!

"I have been competing for 9 years and started lessons with Mary in July of 2023. I was looking to take my shooting to a bigger stage and compete more often. Mary has a day by day training plan designed just for me and my needs. I tell her my goals and she tells me how to get there.

I told her I have a goal of making the Dixie Double Final but I knew my scores weren’t high enough. I now have a training plan that involves longer drills that test my endurance, finals and also mental work. Since I have started training with Mary, not only have my scores excelled, but my mindset has also improved. My biggest obstacle is nerves. She showed me how to look at nerves as a good thing and not something you should fight. I also learned how to take notes during my matches. Doing so keeps my mind on track and calms my nerves. As much as I have learned through this past year, I also gained a friend in the process. We can laugh together when my SCATT decides to go crazy on Zoom, but yet she takes my goals seriously and will try her hardest to get me there."

Marley and Lainey Bowden (above) have been putting in the training on and off the range by taking what they learn in their sessions and effectively putting it into practice. Marley has made most finals recently and is on the National Development Team. Lainey is working towards qualifying again for JOs and setting junior records!

Michaela Hampl (above) is balancing school, work, and recovering from an injury while still shooting. She recently completed her first full match after recovery and had a 20 point personal best! Keep it up!
